Christine Banks Jones is a native of Northern California. She was born and raised in West Marin County in the town of Point Reyes, and attended the public schools there. She later matriculated at the University of California at Berkeley where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. While at
Berkeley she was a student manager of the Young Inspiration Gospel Choir. Under her leadership the choir recorded a CD that is cataloged in the Smithsonian Institution as the Best College Gospel Choir in America. Following college she was an entrepreneur and at the age of 23 opened Amani Beauty Supply store in Marin County.
After hearing the call of God to preaching ministry she left her business and moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center, Morehouse School of Religion, where she earned a Master of Divinity Degree in Homiletics and Christian Education. While In seminary she also met her life partner in marriage and ministry, Donnell Rickey Jones. Following seminary they married and began their life and ministry together. Christine was then ordained in both the Southern Baptist Church and the Christian Methodist Episcopal church as an Elder. She and her husband ministered at churches in Riverside, California; Birmingham, Alabama; and Jacksonville, Florida. They moved back home to California in 2008 and in 2010 planted a church called New Direction Ministries where they are co-Pastors.
Christine began her teaching career in Jacksonville Florida where she taught 4 th Grade. Upon returning to California she taught 3 rd, 4 th , 5 th grades at WHAP Scholastic Academy in Marin and 5 th /6 th , 7 th /8 th grade classes at Vista Christian School in Richmond. Most recently she served as Principal of New Direction Christian Academy, also in Richmond a K-8 th school she opened with her husband when Vista Christian
School closed unexpectedly. She and her husband are also owners of New Soul Café in Richmond, where her husband is the chef. Her proudest accomplishment to date is being the mother of 4 children, Imani, 18, DJ, 14, Sarah, 10, and Josiah 6.
