7th Grade: Writing, reading, speaking, listening, grammar,  vocabulary, and literature units

8th Grade: Application and practice in critical thinking, creative writing, vocabulary grammar and study skills.

7th Grade: Pre-Algebra

8th Grade: Algebra

Science

7th Grade: Study of cells, living organisms, heredity and change. Also learning to use lab equipment and writing up labs are an integral part of this year’s Science classes.

8th Grade: Earth science, the changing earth, plate tectonics, and the environment.

*Outdoor education is part of our junior high science curriculum each year.

History

7th Grade: Medieval times through the Age of Enlightenment.

8th Grade: United States History as seen from a Christian perspective, U.S. Constitution and an optional trip to Washington D.C.

Bible

7th Grade: The life and character of Jesus Christ, the teachings, miracles, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as told in the Gospels.

8th Grade: Study of one of Paul’s epistles and a study of the book of Revelation.

*Memory verses are learned all throughout both years.

*Sex Ed is taught in both 7th and 8th grade Bible classes from a biblical perspective.

*The New International Version Bible is the main textbook for all of the Bible classes at ESCS.

Physical Education

7th & 8th Grade: Basic health and fitness information, finding a sport or fitness activity that the students enjoy, basic sports skill and rules, learning to work as a team together under pressure, showing good sportsmanship and applying Christian values and principles.
